Sam's hospital stay

Sam was such a trooper.  He was brave with the IV placement and all of the blood draws for 2 days to check his growth hormone levels.  He is a bit like his father because at one point the site of blood made all the color drain from his face and he looked like he was about to pass out.

We shared a hospital room with 2 other patients.  We had no where to sit but in bed with Sam and at night Ryan slept in bed with him.  The meals were very simple like a few slices of bread and bologna so we got some food on our own.  We are so used to room service but ridiculous bills.  They had just the basics but the whole two days was a few hundred euros.

Ferienhof Pütz (Eilscheid)

Becky and I realized that we were the only ones without plans for Labor Day weekend.  She had the great idea to go to a german farm and the kids absolutely loved it.  They spent several hours riding carts down the hill and jumping off the hay bales.  We loved filming them in slow motion.  Becky was adventurous and jumped off the bale too and so I wanted to be brave too.  The first thing I thought was "this is much higher than I thought."  I jumped, heard a pop, and felt the pain.
Becky heard the pop too and put me in a wagon and wheeled me to our home.  I couldn't put any weight on it and almost passed out.  Poor Becky had to take care of me and 5 kids while I sat with my foot elevated.  Even with the ankle sprain, we had the very best time.

Bugs and Plants

Ryan found an app where you take a picture of any plant, insect or animal and
others weigh in and tell you what it is.  Ryan and the kids go on scavenger
hunts and learn about our surroundings.  Here are a few of their finds.
