Sam's Art

Sam is a great student and artist.  Mrs. Chebaro wrote him this nice note.  She raved about him at parent teacher conference.

Luxembourg with Mark

Mark came out with his mom and aunt to visit his family in France.  He stopped in Luxembourg for a concert and so I got to meet up with him and his friend.
Fun to see a face from home.

Verdun on Armistice Day

What an amazing opportunity to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Armistice Day
in Verdun, the WWI battle field, memorial, cemetery, ossuary, and museum.
November 11, 1918 at 11 a.m. the cessation of hostilities on the
Western Front of WWI went into effect.
There was a nice memorial service performed in German, French and English.
We also ran into several ward members who also wanted to take part in this historic event.

Other happenings and Lanternen

A visit from the missionaries

Our favorite Trippstadt Hike, AKA Smurf hut hike or Swan hike

German's celebrate St. Martin's Day where he gave a poor man his coat.  It is called Lanternen.
Luke's class sang at the church and then a horse led a procession of all the school children and parents through town as they carried their lanterns.  Then there is a big bonfire and treats waiting at the school.
