Tropical Island

Summer vacation time! We loaded up the van for a 11 day adventure through Berlin, Denmark, and Sweden. Our first stop on our epic road trip was Tropical Island, the world's largest indoor waterpark.  It used to be a Zeppelin hangar for WWII but I was surprised to see that the overnight rooms were mostly inside the waterpark.  We stayed outside in an actual teepee.  I was hoping for of a "waterpark" feel.  It had 2 big pools inside, one outside, and about 6 different slides.  The kids, however, absolutely LOVED it.  It turned out to be a great way to start our trip.

Account by Ryan:

●Tropical Islands- What should you do with an old WW2 and East German Zeppelin and airplane hangar? Well convert it into the largest indoor Waterpark in the world of course! Cheyn found out about this and set everything up. The kids loved our two days here. We stayed in a teepee next to the park. The swimming was fun and the kids enjoyed it so much that they cried and complained when we left.

Kurpfalz park and Brooklynne

We were so lucky to get an impromptu visit from Brooklynne and took a fun little trip to Kurpfalz park.  Brooklynne tried to pay her way in and was handing me 20 euros.  I responded by saying, "NEINE, Neine Brooklynne."  So, she handed me 10 euros.  She thought I was saying that it cost 9 euros but I was telling her that she can not pay.  We laughed and laughed with the misunderstanding.

I always say that Brooklynne is like Mary Poppins, perfect in every way.   She is going to be working in Madrid soon and so we are hoping we will get to see her a lot more often.

Whoops... worst mom award

We let Tessa sleep in our bed.  She was thrashing around and so I moved her to the foot of our bed.  Then in the middle of the night, while sleeping, I kicked the covers off.  I kicked my daughter in the face.  She whimpered a little but neither of us woke up.  It wasn't until I picked her up from school that I saw her puffy red eye and realized that I did this to her.  I felt absolutely terrible.  When people asked her what happened, she happily said, "Mommy kicked me in the face."

Sam's artwork and books

Sam is so sweet to Luke and brings him home dog books from his
school library and draws him pictures.  Luke has gotten used
to prizes from Sam and often says, "What did you bring me today?"

Sam loves all things Egypt.  He wants to learn Arabic and often writes things in hieroglyphics.  He has also written a ton of books.  He comes home every day with a new one.  His most prized possession is a book he co-wrote with his friends Isaiah, Allen, and Max.  It has about 200 pages so it isn't something I can blog but it is funny and called "The Big Book of Boo Boos."  They have so many inside jokes and it is cute to see their sense of humor on the pages.
