Girls trip BATH- Jane Austen Festival

Sept 22nd and 23rd

We started the festival with a traditional tea party.  Becky Olson joined us.

We later met for a Persuasion tour.  The tour guide stayed in character and helped us imagine where things would have taken place in the novel.

Later that night we dressed up and went to a play/comedy.
While Elizabeth was at her conference in Oxford, she was asked what she was doing next.
She responded that she was on her way to Bath.  A distinguished Englishman responded,
"I am sorry but you WON'T have a good time.  A Jane Austen festival is going on and people
are walking around in silly costumes."  Elizabeth bravely responded,
"I am going for the Jane Austen festival and I brought a silly costume!"
He back peddled quickly.

The next day we got dressed again for a Promenade around Bath.  We went early to take pictures.  Suddenly tourists wanted pictures with us and we graciously agreed.  Soon a line formed.  They thought we were characters that worked in Bath like in Disneyland.  We told them that we were tourists too.  Later, Elizabeth and I went in the cathedral.  A lady asked us if she could take a picture.  We graciously turned and posed for her.  She politely corrected us by asking us to move.  She wanted to take a picture of the cathedral.  We were so tickled thinking we were little celebrities.  Our 5 minutes was over.
