Dublin Ireland

We arrived into Dublin and went to Grafton Street, the National Museum of Archaeology, James Joyce's home, and St. Patrick's Cathedral.  The real highlight of Dublin was going to where Mary Branagan lived.  Our great great great grandmother that joined the church against her father's wishes at age 19.  She sneaked out of her comfortable home and left her family forever to join the church and travel to the United States and finally to Utah.  It is such a rich history of which we are so proud to have Branagan named after such a courageous woman.

We didn't make it in time to see the Book of Kells in Trinity College but we did see many ancient religious and literary texts at the Chester Beatty Library.

Mary Branagan
1834-1919

It was pretty incredible because there was a notice on the door stating it was soon to be demolished.  It looks like we made it just in time.  Mary wrote in her journal about the orchards and rowing in the nearby river.  We walked to the river and imagined what her life was like.  We felt so close to her and honored her for the sacrifices she made of which we have fully benefited.

The church where Mary Branagan's father attended.
Her parents were buried near there but the cemetery is no more.
