Paris DAY 1

We took the train from Kaiserslautern at 7:22 a.m. for 2 and a half hours into Gare d’Est. The train ride was so easy and the kids played kindles the whole time and we wore masks the whole time.
We walked our way to the Airbnb. The owner met us there and was so nice. We left our luggage and apologized for Trump and how terrible America was handling the Coronavirus. We then walked to the Musée D’Orsay. There was no line and we had so much of the whole museum to ourselves! We showed the kids Monet, Degas, Renoir, Van Gogh, and Gauguin. Tessa fell asleep on the bench and we ended up carrying her through the second half of the museum. Ryan and I loved it and I think the boys appreciated it. We grabbed a picnic on our walk to the Eiffel Tower. We sat on our jackets and ate turkey, brie, baget, chips and chocolate at the base of the tower. Suddenly the kids were no longer tired and ran up the 672 steps to the second floor of the tower. We didn’t have to wait at all. The kids loved it. People were good about wearing their masks every. I got a tickle in my throat and started hacking. I was so embarrassed as people crossed to the other side of the street. We went by the river to get a boat tour. They were a little expensive so we went to the other side to see if the prices dropped. There was a lady that bought 5 tickets for her friends but they got stuck in traffic. She gave them to us for a killer deal. It was crazy that she needed to get rid of 5 tickets. Tessa and Luke played make believe on and under the benches on the boat. I wish we could have seen the city at night with it all lit up but we would have had to wait until about 10 pm. We walked back to the apartment and stopped at another grocery store to pick up pizza, cereal, milk, OJ, and strawberries. We walked over 20,000 steps and our “dogs were barking.” Ryan went back out and got us really yummy Cambodian lemon grass and ginger chicken with vermicelli.
