PARIS Day 3

Our last day- I woke up early and ran about 7 miles! The streets were empty except for trash trucks and other runners. I ran to Luxembourg gardens but it didn’t open until 8 am so, I ran around the perimeter. Then I went by Notre Dame and Saint Chapelle and along the Seine. It felt great! We arranged to leave our bags in a closet.

Our first stop was to Saint Chapelle only to find out we needed to preorder tickets. Once we did that, we couldn’t get FREE tickets for the kids online. 3 nice young French girls did it for us. They were so nice to take the time for us. The chapel is small but full of brilliant stain glass. It is one of 3 of my favorite chapels. (The other favorites are in Madrid and Mallorca).

We went next door to where Marie Antonette was held prisoner before her beheading. They had changed it a bit from when Ryan and I were here in 2008 but had neat items from Marie.
We looked at Notre Dame that has huge barriers all around it as they are making repairs from the fire. We went to Shakespeare’s bookstore before jumping on the Metro to get to our reservation at the Catacombs. That was unlike anything ever! Millions of bones neatly arranged under the city, many from plagues. They go on for miles and miles underground. After we grabbed a bite to eat and went to Luxembourg gardens to have the kids play with the boats in the fountain. This was incredibly picturesque and the kids loved it. We went to the playground and had to pay to let them in. They played for about 30 minutes before we walked back to our bags and train station. It was difficult to find some good food to go. We got McDonald’s for the kids and I wanted another millefeuille but no luck. The train was so easy. Only 2 hours and 40 minutes and we were back in Kaiserslautern.
