Fairs are the lovely time when you can eat things you can only get and probably should only eat once a year. Chocolate dipped cheesecake on a stick and giant turkey drumsticks were available. Deep fried deserts like fried Twinkies, candy bars, Oreos and funnel cake were there.
Cheyn had been fixing for a fried Snickers bar for a long time after hearing about them. We enjoyed one of those. It was kind of like a melted candy bar in a scone. It actually was really good and had more calories than your average meal I'm sure. After that we finished off the night by splitting a funnel cake, something I'd never had before.Now we should probably diet.

oh my gosh, fried snickers on a stick??? fried CHEESECAKE??? you've got to be making this up!
I tried a deep fried snickers a couple years ago and it reminded me too much of a snickers that you left in the wrapper on the dashboard of your car. Tasty, but messy.
I really liked the deep fried oreos though. I recommend it.
And who waits until their late 20's to have a funnel cake?!?! At least you can say that you have lived now...
Justin's only reason for living in the South is the funnel cakes. Yummo. And lots of oily-o.
Our favorite part of our local fair last Saturday was when those wholesome, thorough, and careful traveling fair operators didn't bother checking to see if her seatbelt was fastened and she fell completely out and off the 360 spinning ride. Ah, good times. Good times. The ride operator's apology was great: "Uh, y'all can take her to the first aid tent if ya wanna."
