Skymile payoffRyan has assigned me to write this one.
We have been great cheerleaders this summer as most friends and family have taken exotic and exciting summer vacations.
Family:
Justin ..... everywhere twice, India, Paris, Hawaii
Wendy and even Benjamin.... Hawaii
Branagan..... Alaska
Mom and Dad..... Russia (again)
Well, it is finally our turn. We have saved our pennies and flight miles and are headed to Turkey and Greece (with a slice of Paris and a dash of Amsterdam). Our preparation has included reading Lonely Planet's Greece, Rick Steves' Istanbul and the Bible. It is pretty neat to read in Acts about Ephesus and the Temple of Diana that we will soon get to see! So, we have 3 weeks and counting. If you have any advice, please share.

My advice is I'm so jealous!
I can't wait to see all your pics. Hopefully you can find an internet cafe here and there and update your blog as you guys travel!
How great to visit FOUR countries--and free airfare!!!
you guys are way too cool for us...we don't have any advice for world travelers as the farthest place we travel is Anaheim-isn't disneyland exotic??
wow, FUN! Ummm advice....well, seems like you've covered your basis with Rick Steves and the Bible. Seriously, you will have so much fun. It could be hot and busy. Buy a rug in Turkey (no, don't buy a rug in Turkey, they are over priced a LOT). Really, when we found places good old Ricky mentioned, we were well off. Did I mention we ran into Rick while in France? He was checking out the Normandy area. We found tourism in Turkey to be a pushy business, but that was 6 years ago. HAVE SO MUCH FUN!!!!
HI Cheyney, Allison told me you had a blog. Look forward to keeping up with you this way!
How fun! Jealous!
But seriously, we have endless advice about traveling. When we were in Asia I really was glad or wished we brought:
1. A micro fiber towel
2.)A pillow case and top sheet (hotels can be gross)
3.)A hidden belt pouch for cards/passport etc.
Hmmmm...the rest all pertains to third world countries, sweating through bamboo jungles and eating with chopsticks.
You're good to go.
so exiting!! Not quite as much as my upcoming trip to North Carolina, but I'm still a little jealous ;)
Very jealous...
One thing I wished I had done more of was spend money on trying the food from each country instead living mostly on Nutella.
Have a blast!

Awesome trip!! I hope you guys have some internet access so you can post and update the blog as you go!
My only regrets about past travel experiences relate to being too money conscious while there. So...
Splurge, splurge, splurge! That's my advice. You may never get back -- especially if you ever have little Lingrettes -- so live it up while you are there. Time to let go of your frugal ways, Ry. Just this once.
Comfortable shoes and a camera...but do it stylishly. Don't give us Americans a bad name.
spend only one or two days in athens - that's plenty. definitely go to the louvre - and while in paris try to at least speak a little french to the locals - they will be very gracious thereafter. i am so jealous you are going to turkey, that was one place we wanted to visit on our european tour but weren't able to. have a blast-- Sarah Moyer
