Delphi

We made our way to the archeological site. I realized I needed to go to the bathroom at the gate and was worried I wouldn’t enjoy it if I didn’t go, so I ran back to the museum and made the family wait only to find out that there was a bathroom just on the other side of the gate. Sam was in a crappy mood. He hit his head on the car door but couldn’t shake off the funk and moped for most of the tour. Again, Rick Steves knocked the tour out of the park. He has a freak way of not overwhelming with info but just enough to make it interesting and bring it alive. We saw the Temple of Apollo where an old lady, the oracle, would speak gibberish and priests would interpret what she said to all who traveled to see her and get her blessing or advise. The travelers came to see the oracle if they were traveling by ship, going to war or doing anything major. Socrates came and even Alexander the Great. It is said that good ol’ Alex grabbed her by the hair so she wouldn't give him a good prediction. Everyone had to bring gifts or sacrifices to the gods for a good omen. What a big deal to travel here to talk with the oracle!
