Jerusalem Day 1

What a packed day!  We started on Galilee, went to the Jordan River, Caesarea, returned our car in Tel Aviv and got on the train to Jerusalem.  Our hotel was on the Palestinian side of the city and only steps away from the Garden Tomb.  This was our first day in Jerusalem but we got to the Garden Tomb about 5 or 6 pm.  We were still able to get a good introduction to the city.

Possible place of the Skull

Our blind tour guide was very moving as he bore testimony of Christ.  He enjoyed giving tours in this very peaceful area where he can feel close to Christ and remember that this is where Christ healed the blind.  He spoke of how he too will be healed by Christ someday.  He also taught us that this is could be the possible site of the tomb because in common Roman Practice, crucifixions were performed at the bottom of the hill near town so more folks passing by could see the example. Also says Christ's name was written above the cross so maybe He was crucified at the bottom of the Hill.
Damascus Gate

Inside the old city was busy and cramped and had spice sellers and was fantastic.

The other place believed to be the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
This is traditionally the place of the tomb but was dark, crowded and chaotic.

Alternate site to where the Garden tomb was

Tomb was moved to this portion of the Church.

Tradition of Catholics the body was dressed on this stone.
Pilgrims were praying over it and touching it.
