After driving through modern Tel Aviv and the Jewish dominant areas we crossed over to the Arab portions with mosques and cement houses. The next pictures are of Megiddo, referenced in th Book of Revelation. It seemed rural and flat mostly. It looked a little like Oxnard or Bakersfield California. (many of the comments are by Ryan when he took notes with the pictures)
NAZARETH
We arrived in Nazarath. The streets were bright and safe and friendly. The city has about 80k people per Wikipedia and is mostly Arab.
This is the Catholic Church over the traditional site of Mary's home, where an angel appeared to her, though the Greek Orthodox disagree.
Inside the Church. We kind of snuck in and enjoyed some time to read
a bit of the pertinent parts of the Bible.
Traditional site of earlier Christian ruins built over Mary's house. |
Al Murtan, where our room is. The owner is friendly and a great host. Our room was on the 2nd floor, the one with the window open. |
Ryan and Justin love signage from other countries |
Morning in Nazareth |
Church of the Adolescent Jesus on top of Nazareth. |
There were some fun alleyways on our walk. Other streets had stray cats and garbage on the streets. A developing nation feel. |
Breakfast at the hotel. It was delicious.
